The Development of the Bible
The development of the Bible can be discussed as two separate phases – the development of the Old Testament and the development of the New Testament. This is because they were not developed together but approximately 400-500 years separated the final writing of the newest Old Testament book (Malachi) and the completion of the oldest written New Testament Book (James).
Issues of authorship, inspiration, transmission, copying and editing are quite fascinating in considering both testaments and are of paramount importance by the astute reader endeavoring gain the best understanding of what God, through human agents, was intending to convey.
